Core Skill Training

  • What It Covers: A series of focused, self-paced modules (~1.5 hours) that teach essential tutoring skills:

    • Lesson Structuring: How to plan clear, effective, and engaging sessions.

    • Communication Techniques: Teaching concepts in ways students understand.

    • Adaptability: Working with students of different learning styles, pacing, and needs.

    • Ethics & Responsibility: Maintaining professionalism and a positive learning environment.

  • Assessment: After the training, tutors take a 20-question knowledge check to ensure understanding.

  • Why It Matters: This balances approachability with rigor, ensuring tutors gain concrete skills that are recognized as professional development.

Subject Knowledge Assessment

  • What It Is: A 30-minute subject-specific test to verify tutors’ knowledge in their chosen teaching areas (e.g., AP Calculus, English Literature, Chemistry). Tutors must score 80% or higher to pass, ensuring mastery of core concepts.

  • Why It Matters: This step adds credibility, proving to families and colleges that our tutors have verified expertise in their subjects.

Live Teaching Demo

  • What It Is: Tutors conduct a 10-15 minute mock lesson (live or recorded) on a topic of their choice. They will be evaluated on:

    • Clarity of explanation.

    • Session structure and engagement.

    • Communication and adaptability.

  • Feedback: Senior tutors or mentors provide constructive feedback to help tutors improve.

  • Why It Matters: This step ensures tutors can apply what they’ve learned and proves their teaching ability—a key factor respected by schools and employers.
